A dhurrie (also dhurri, durrie, durry or dari) is a thin carpet woven by hand on flat loom. In Dhurrie, the warp, or the lengthwise thread of the rug, is not visible. This results in thin carpet with a compact structure that are light and easy to fold and transport. They are excellent option for those looking for a durable and low-maintenance rug. Durries are reversible because these have no backing support.
At Soorya Carpet, although our prime objective is making hand knotted carpets, we also experiment with other hand woven techniques like Dhurries. We have made dhurries that are both aesthetically pleasing and comfortable to use. We have made them in wool and in combination of wool and cotton. We have tried to incorporate colours and elaborate designs to make them look more contemporary.
