Our Story

Soorya Carpet Industries is one of the pioneer carpet manufactures in Nepal.

Established in 1974, we have more than 40 years of experience in producing and exporting finest Nepalese hand knotted carpets. We offer an extensive range of quality and designs made in time-honoured traditional Tibetan style of weaving.

We use only the finest wool from New Zealand and Tibet to weave our carpets. Our carpets are available in 100% pure Tibetan wool, 100% New Zealand wool, Combination of Tibetan and New Zealand wool, and Combination of Tibetan and/or New Zealand wool and silk.

We use the highest quality and AZO free dyes and chemicals to dye the wool for the production of our carpets.

The Kaleen Story

In year 2018, we reinvent ourselves to address the modern taste in home décor. Subsequently, our exclusive designer carpet brand Kaleen was launched. Within a short span, the brand Kaleen was able to make a mark for its exclusivity and quality.

Our company is guided by the philosophy that “a beautiful home deserves beautiful carpets”. Handmade carpets have been the principal feature of home interiors for centuries and it is a tradition that has continued even today.

We offer a varied array of designs ranging from exquisite and innovative contemporary designs that suit the sophisticated aesthetics of modern interiors, to time tested traditional designs such as Tibetan, Persian, Moroccan and Turkish. Our designs are inspired by nature, landscape and 5 elements of life namely Fire, Water, Earth, Air and Metal. Kaleen carpets are suitable for both residential homes and commercial properties.

Our Specialization

Custom Design Carpet

As a carpet designer and manufacturer of unique designer carpets, our primary focus is manufacturing custom designed carpets. These are made to order carpets to fit the room décor, customers taste and specification. We provide expert opinion on the design, color, size, type, texture, pile, etc. of carpet so that we can make carpets that suit both lifestyle and budget of the clients and make a world of difference to their room.

Stock Carpet

We have limited edition of stock carpets which we manufacture from our own collection of in house designs. Our carpets come in different sizes, knots, designs and materials to choose from. We have one design in one size or color and we try not to repeat designs so that clients can have unique one piece designer item for their home.

Art in Carpet

At Kaleen, we feel that carpets are not just meant for floors, they can make beautiful pieces of art and can be displayed on the wall. We reproduce carpets from designs or artworks of various professional artists and designers. We have collaborated with Nepalese artists to make their artwork come alive in carpet form and they have been hung on the walls of art collectors.

Our Affiliation

Soorya Carpet Industries is one of the very few companies in Nepal that has been authorized to use the Oeko-Tex Mark. Our carpets have been tested by the Swiss Textile Testing Institute and have been determined to be free of any harmful chemicals. Our carpets meet the human-ecological requirements of the globally established standards.

Soorya Carpet Industries was the first carpet manufacturer to receive the Nepal Standard Certification Mark. This recognition is awarded by the Government of Nepal to companies that meet the Nepalese government’s quality standards. We are also the only organization in Nepal to receive the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Award for promoting productivity in the Nepalese carpet industry by training and educating our employees, fostering development programmes to enrich the lives of our employees, and developing production processes designed to improve quality of life and environment.

We are one of the founding members of Care & Fair Nepal. Care & Fair – Carpet Trade Against Child Labour e.V., based in Hamburg, Germany, is a professional association of the European carpet industry.
